6th Grade Choir

​Sixth grade choir is a non-auditioned choir class. In this class, students are introduced to singing fundamentals, beginning sight-singing and music theory. This choir performs at the Winter Concert, Spring Concert, the OM Choral Festival, one adjudicated festival or event, and the Fall Follies. Students in this choir have the opportunity to be chosen for the Young Voices Festival where they will sing with other choir students from across the state. Sixth Grade Choir meets over various periods.

Oak Mountain "Apex"

​Apex is a non-auditioned girls choir comprised of 7th and 8th grade students. This class will continue their music education in learning vocal technique, stage presence, music theory and more advanced sight-singing. This class is also open to returning and new students to the choral department. This choir performs at the Winter Concert, Spring Concert, the Oak Mountain Choir Festival, one adjudicated festival or event and the Fall Follies. Students in this choir have the opportunity to audition for the All-State Choral Festival where they will sing with other choir students from across the state. Students also may participate in honor choirs. Apex students may also attend the spring choir trip.

Oak Mountain "Ascent"

Ascent is a non-auditioned Advanced Women’s Choir comprised of 7th and 8th grade girls. Students in Ascent perform traditional concert literature as well as more popular music, such as musical theater and vocal jazz. This choir performs at the Winter Concert, Spring Concert, the Oak Mountain Choral Festival, one adjudicated concert festival, and the Fall Follies. Students in this choir have the opportunity to audition for the All-State Choral Festival where they will sing with other choir students from across the state. Students also may participate in honor choirs. Ascent students may also attend the spring choir trip.

Oak Mountain Guys Choir *NEW*

Guys Choir is a non-auditioned Men's choir comprised of 7th and 8th grade guys! Students in Guys Choir perform a traditional concert literature as well as more popular music throughout the year. Students in this ensemble will perform at Fall Follies, Winter Concert, Spring Concert, and the Oak Mountain Choral Festival. Students in this choir have the opportunity to audition for All State, young Voices, and ACDA Honor Choir where they will sing with some of the top conductors in the nation. If you are interested in joining us on the Spring Trip then this ensemble is for you.

Oak Mountain "Elevation"

         ​Elevation is an auditioned Advanced Mixed Choir comprised of 7th and 8th grade students. Students in Elevation perform both traditional concert literature and show choir music. This choir performs at the Winter Concert, Spring Concert, the Oak Mountain Choir Festival, one adjudicated concert festival, the Fall Follies, and show choir competitions. Students in this choir have the opportunity to audition for the All-State Choral Festival, where they will sing with other choir students from across the state. Elevation students may also attend the spring choir trip.
